ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice revolves around the concept of ‘in-betweenness’, the feeling of existing between places, cultures, identities, and emotional states. It is within this liminal space that I explore ideas of home, belonging, and memory. My work responds to how movement, migration, and cultural overlap shape our personal and collective experiences, often leaving us suspended in a space that is neither here nor there, but somewhere in between.

I often use lines to speak of this ongoing journey of understanding and intimacy, of how our surroundings leave imprints on our lives. In each place I inhabit, I seek its essence: through textures, rhythms, and fleeting interactions. I investigate the layered concepts of belonging and inhabitance often asking, “What allows me to call a place home?”

Having lived in India for over 20 years, I carry with me a strong connection to its landscapes and memories. This connection often resurfaces through moments of nostalgia and personal reflection. The quiet, rural environment of my village in Goa forms a soft undercurrent within my practice, one that now contrasts with and responds to the bustling urban life of London.

This gentle negotiation between two geographies, between the known and the unfamiliar, shapes how I see and respond to the world. Through painting, video, and mark-making, I map these shifts, documenting how the self transforms while navigating these spaces.
My work becomes a reflection of that continuous search for comfort, identity, and rootedness within ever-changing surroundings.
