MAKING PUBLIC
'The Spaces between' exhibition, SU Space
Our exhibition, The Spaces Between, was a wonderful opportunity I shared with five peers from my course to showcase our work at the SU Gallery Space in Camberwell College of Arts. It was one of the first times I was able to present my work outside of the studio environment in London, and it gave me valuable insight into not only how I view my practice in a professional context, but also how my work relates to that of others. The proposal and curation of the show were led primarily by myself and my peer Alice Payen, and together we worked closely to ensure the exhibition had a cohesive vision and a positive outcome.

In parallel, my experience with Transmissions: A Transatlantic Project offered another layer of curatorial learning. I had the chance to work with Sarah Woodfine, who curated the exhibition. This was the first time I experimented with a low display format for my work, and working within the spatial restrictions was a new challenge. Sarah played a crucial role in guiding the composition and placement of my pieces. Since my work often involves intricate details and layered imagery, her suggestion to bring the works lower to the ground encouraged viewers to physically come closer, to peer in and truly engage with the finer elements. This approach changed the way I thought about audience interaction and helped me understand the importance of display in relation to the intimacy of viewing.
